DUBLIN, Ohio – With his 85th swipe of the day, Tiger Woods officially reached rock bottom.
Woods shot a 13-over 85 in the third round of the Memorial, his highest score ever on the PGA Tour. He butchered the closing hole, carding a quadruple-bogey 8 to add salt to an already open wound. It left fans gathered around the green stunned by what they had just witnessed, and left Woods limping – at least figuratively – toward the exit.
Woods had used a hot putter to compensate for errant tee shots through the first two rounds, making the cut on the number, but every facet of his game malfunctioned Saturday at Muirfield Village.
