Tiger Woods announced Tuesday that he won’t play in either next week’s U.S. Open or the Quicken Loans National later this month.
In a statement on his website, Woods said that although he’s making progress after a third back surgery, he is “not physically ready” for tournament competition.
Updates on Woods’ status have been scarce since he appeared the Quicken Loans media day on May 16. After a brief news conference, a visibly stiff Woods hit three consecutive 102-yard shots in the water.
With Woods pulling out of the year’s second major and an event that benefits his foundation – he is still planning to host and appear at the event – it only increases the likelihood that he will miss the rest of the season.
