Some of the game's biggest names are heading home early at the Farmers Insurance Open. Gary Woodland and K.J. Choi share the 36-hole lead, and Dustin Johnson lurks just one shot off the pace, but defending champion Jason Day, last week's winner in Abu Dhabi Rickie Fowler and Torrey Pines veteran Phil Mickelson all missed the cut. Here's how things stand heading into the weekend at Torrey Pines:
Leaderboard: Woodland (-9), Choi (-9), D. Johnson (-8), Martin Laird (-7), Scott Brown (-7)
What it means: Woodland followed up a 68 on the easier North Course with a 67 on the South on Friday to put himself in position what would be his first PGA Tour win since the 2013 Reno-Tahoe Open after close calls last season at the CIMB Classic (T-2) and WGC-Match Play (finals loss to Rory McIlroy).
