ORLANDO, Fla. – To say Cobra Golf clubs are out of this world may soon take on a whole new meaning. That’s because on Sept. 23, the company sent plating materials that are relatively common in golf clubs to the International Space Station as part of a research experiment in applied materials science.
More than 40 years after astronaut Alan Shepard hit a golf ball on the moon, Mike Yagley, Cobra’s director of research and testing, said the company’s experiments conducted in a microgravity environment could lead to the creation of better golf clubs.
