WILLIAM MCGIRT WON THE MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT on Sunday by being as tough as nails coming down the stretch and in a sudden-death playoff with Jon Curran. Despite mediocre ball-striking (McGirt's characterization), the 12-year pro kept bogeys off his scorecard and made several clutch putts to claim his first PGA Tour title.
"It will all sink in at some point," McGirt, 36, said after receiving congratulations from tournament host Jack Nicklaus.
