Michelle Wie withdrew from the Marathon Classic on Tuesday, citing lingering bursitis in her left hip and now a bone spur in her left foot.
Wie struggled with pain throughout her title defense at last week’s U.S. Women’s Open, ultimately tying for 11th despite playing with a limp that was noticeably worse on Saturday and Sunday.
Wie met with three specialists, including hip and foot specialists, at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio over the last two days. She said she expects to make her return at the Ricoh Women’s British Open in two weeks.
“I’m disappointed to miss one of the LPGA’s best tournaments, but I remain determined to get healthy as I know my best golf is still to come,” Wie said in a statement.
