The west is off to a solid start in its quest to capture the AJGA’s Wyndham Cup for the fourth consecutive year.
The west team leads the east 8-7 after the morning four-ball and afternoon mixed foursomes at the Stanwich Club in Greenwich, Conn., Tuesday.
Alyaa Abdulghany, Kaiwen Liu, Yealimi Noh all won both their foursome and four-ball matches.
Liu and Noh played together in the afternoon, handing the west a 4-and-3 win over Eugene Hong and Gina Kim. Abdulghany paired with Philip Barbaree for a 5-and-4 win in the foursomes.
The west went 2-3 in the afternoon matches, but won six out of the 10 four-ball matches in the morning to give themselves a cushion.
