LANCASTER, Pa. – Karrie Webb, playing in her 20th U.S. Women’s Open, holds the record for longest streak of championship appearances. The Hall of Famer shares the lead at the 70th playing of this event with novice Marina Alex, who played only one other time as an amateur back in 2009. The Vandy grad shot 82 that year in the opening round, 16 shots higher than today’s 4-under 66.
The co-leaders at Lancaster Country Club couldn’t be more different. While Webb seeks her eighth major title, a strong finish here for Alex guarantees she keeps her card.
