Casey Ward cruised to stroke-play medalist Sunday at the U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur, firing a a 2-under 70 – the only sub-par score on Day Two – to take the honors by five shots.
The Canadian birdied two of her first six holes at Squire Creek Country Club and held on with level par in the remainder of her second round. The Sunday 70 followed an opening 74 to put Ward at an Even Par 36-hole total. Lauren Greenlief, of Oakton, Va., was runner-up at 5 over with a 77-72 showing.
Squire Creek Country Club member and first-round leader Sarah Davison (72-79) finished solo third at 7 over, and defending champion Margaret Shiley (75-77) was T-4 at 8 over.
