LYTHAM ST. ANNES, England – Can Great Britain & Ireland turn a two-point lead into Walker Cup victory? GB&I captain Nigel Edwards certainly thinks so.
“Why not,” Edwards said after his team took a 7-5 lead after the first two sessions. “Let’s go do it. It’s a great opportunity we’ve given ourselves.”
The problem for Edwards is that United States captain Spider Miller thinks his team can overturn that deficit to successfully defend the cup the U.S. won two years ago.
“It's obvious what we need to do,” Miller said. “We need to reach down and play our best.
