Virginia Tech's Scott Vincent makes first Tour start at RBC Heritage

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. –– Scott Vincent could have been on a nine-hour ride up to New Haven, Conn., with his Virginia Tech teammates on Wednesday. Instead, he was on the range at Harbour Town Golf Links, preparing for his first PGA Tour start.

Vincent, a senior from Zimbabwe, will tee it up in this week’s RBC Heritage after earning a spot in the field courtesy of his victory in last summer’s Players Amateur. As a result, he won’t be in the Hokies lineup this weekend at the Yale Spring Invitational.

“I’m upset I can’t be out there, but on the other hand it gives another guy a chance to go out and play, and prove himself,” said Vincent, whose absence opens up a spot for freshman Dan Woodbury.
