Chad Pfeifer will be the first veteran amputee to play an official Web.com Tour event when he tees it up Thursday at the Albertsons Boise Open.
Pfeifer, a 33-year-old retired United States Army Corporal, had his left leg amputated above the knee in 2007 when he was injured in a roadside bombing while serving in Iraq.
Pfeifer took up the game of golf as part of his rehab process and played his first 18-hole round 10 months after his life-changing injury.
