Veteran amputee Chad Pfeifer to make Web.com Tour start

Chad Pfeifer will be the first veteran amputee to play an official Web.com Tour event when he tees it up Thursday at the Albertsons Boise Open.

Pfeifer, a 33-year-old retired United States Army Corporal, had his left leg amputated above the knee in 2007 when he was injured in a roadside bombing while serving in Iraq.

Pfeifer took up the game of golf as part of his rehab process and played his first 18-hole round 10 months after his life-changing injury.
