USA advances and still hopeful it can win suspended UL International Crown

GURNEE, Ill. – Anybody can win this thing. That’s the message of Stacy Lewis, who said Team USA doesn’t feel any extra pressure at the UL International Crown because the format levels the playing field.

“I just think with this format, you take a player that’s 50 to 100 in the world,” said Lewis, “and they can go make seven or eight birdies in a round. They may not do it for four straight days and win a tournament, but they can do it for one day.”

Piller and Lewis combined for eight birdies and an eagle at the Merit Club and still went to the 17th hole against Japan in a 3-and-1 victory.
