All eyes will be on Dustin Johnson when the U.S. Open gets underway Thursday at Erin Hills in Erin, Wisconsin.

Johnson won the U.S. Open championship a year ago, and he is the top-ranked FedEx Cup player as well as the No. 1 player in the world. The 32-year-old is the favorite to win the tournament (per OddsShark) again this year because of his prodigious power and shot-making skills, and the golfing world wants to see if Johnson can do it again.

There's another reason that the South Carolina native is the central figure in this tournament.
