One major shake-up after another has thinned the field considerably for Round 3 of the 2017 U.S. Open at Erin Hills in Erin, Wisconsin, on Saturday. Specifically, Dustin Johnson, Jason Day and Rory McIlroy all missing the cut means there will be new names earning the top shares of the record $12 million purse on Sunday.
Of those left, the big names include Jordan Spieth and Martin Kaymer, both previous winners. Unfortunately, both players trail the four golfers tied at the top by some distance.
Here's what the leaderboard looks like:
Kaymer Will Make Up the Difference
A winner in 2014, Kaymer is currently three-under, four strokes adrift of Paul Casey, Brian Harman, Tommy Fleetwood and Brooks Koepka, per the tournament's official leaderboard.
