OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – Suddenly, the process of picking the 10-man U.S. Walker Cup team has grown far more complicated.
Derek Bard and Sean Crocker, surprising qualifiers for Saturday’s semifinals of the U.S. Amateur, have given the U.S. selection committee something else to consider. Bard, a Virginia junior from New Hartford, N.Y., and the No. 45 seed here, and Crocker, a USC sophomore from Westlake Village, Calif., who entered match play seeded 22nd, could play themselves onto the U.S. team.
