United States Women’s Open: Trying to Gain an Edge, a Caddie Loses His Job

LANCASTER, Pa. — Sei Young Kim of South Korea was on the practice green putting for 29 minutes in the late afternoon sun on the eve of the United States Women’s Open. But Kim, a 22-year-old rookie sensation on the L.P.G.A. Tour, was the only one who stood out among several players.

She was alone.

Kim’s caddie, Paul Fusco, had been escorted off the grounds of Lancaster Country Club on Tuesday when he was discovered in the United States Golf Association championship office taking a cellphone photo of what a spokeswoman called “an internal course prep document.
