United States opens up big lead at Handa Cup

The United States took initiative Friday afternoon at the ISPS Handa Cup, and opened up a wide cushion.

Tied 6-6 with the World Team after morning four-ball, the U.S. took five of six matches in a modified alternate shot format in the afternoon at Palm Aire Country Club. With each contest being worth two point, the U.S. romped the World Team 10-2 in that session to lead 16-8 going into Saturday singles.

“We got stuffed,” said England’s Trish Johnson of the World Team. “The U.S. played really well and I don’t think we were at our best.
