Could the R&A be reconsidering its association with the Palmer Cup? If not, then hopefully the governing body has discussed the scheduling of future events with the Golf Coaches Association of America.
This week’s Palmer Cup, which pits the top 10 American collegiate players against their European counterparts, couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Amateur Championship. The unfortunate overlap means 10 strong Europeans can’t compete in the Amateur Championship, not to mention a few strong American contenders who might have considered playing.
The Palmer Cup will be played June 13-14 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill.
