Tumble Creek offers peaceful setting for U.S. Open qualifying madness

CLE ELUM, Wash. — The best sectional qualifier for the U.S. Open is, as it should be, open to question.

The most unique sectional qualifying site, though, may be found right here at the 6,400-acre Suncadia Resort. Among other features, the golf shop at the Rope Rider course can be found inside a working winery.

"Let's see, I'll have a sleeve of Titleists and a carafe of chardonnay, not necessarily in that order," you might say.

Roger Beck, managing director for Suncadia Resort, said he wasn't aware of another golf shop anywhere located inside a functioning winery.
