Players planning to participate in next week’s CIMB Classic in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, were advised via an e-mail from the PGA Tour on Thursday of potential risks associated with a recent typhoid outbreak and poor air quality.
According to the e-mail obtained by GolfChannel.com, there have been over 30 cases of typhoid reported in Kuala Lumpur since the beginning of August.
No fatalities have been reported from the outbreak and players and staff were advised to only drink bottled or boiled water and avoid ice and raw fruits, vegetables and meats.
The e-mail also warns of poor air quality around Kuala Lumpur because of severe drought conditions.
