PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Mexico – Jon Rahm is proving the PGA Tour isn’t just for pros.
The world’s top-ranked amateur is once again playing well against a field full of professionals this week at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba. Rahm took advantage of calm early conditions Saturday to shoot a 5-under 66, posting a 54-hole total of 10-under 203 just before storms halted play at El Camaleon.
A senior at Arizona State, Rahm is playing this week on a sponsor invite. He used a similar invitation earlier this year at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, where he tied for fifth in front of a partisan crowd.
