Tiger Woods struggles with fast greens during first-round play at Quail Hollow

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Six years have passed since Tiger Woods last played the Wells Fargo Championship, and the Quail Hollow Club underwent some changes during that time.

The alterations lengthened the course to 7,554 yards and reduced par from 72 to 71. Instead of holes that presented nine legitimate birdie opportunities in each round, it is now more like five.

Then there are the relatively new greens and plenty for Woods to contend with Thursday in his first competitive round since the Masters.

"It was an all right day; I hit it all right,'' Woods said after an even-par 71 left him six shots out of the lead.
