Tiger Woods' slide can be measured in frequency of big numbers

Minutia is . . . well, it’s minutia.

Unless, of course, it involves Tiger Woods, whose golf career never has been about minutia, only intrigue and history.

When Woods made double bogeys at a pair of par 5s in one round at the recent Players Championship, it marked a first for him. But his total of five double bogeys or worse in that tournament did not establish a career low. He has made five doubles or triples in three other tournaments: 2014 Open Championship, 2013 Memorial and 2011 PGA.

Notice a trend? They all occurred post-2009, which is a dividing line for Woods’ career.
