Tiger Woods' Round 1 62 Puts Him in Early Contention at 2018 BMW Championship

Tiger Woods is in contention at the top of the leaderboard at the 2018 BMW Championship after shooting an eight-under 62 in the first round Thursday at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

Woods, who posted a blistering six-under 29 over his first nine holes of the tournament, tallied an eagle, seven birdies and a bogey on his Round 1 scorecard. It was enough to place him one stroke behind leader Rory McIlroy (-9), who was through 14 holes at the time, with the afternoon wave of play ongoing.

The 14-time major champion entered the season's penultimate event 25th in the FedEx Cup Playoffs standings.
