Tiger Woods' bank account takes a blow from lack of WGC starts

Barring a dramatic triumph at this week's Quicken Loans National, Tiger Woods will make a first-ever season sweep of the World Golf Championships. In a dubious way, that is, because he will have been ineligible for all of them.

Where that really hurts is in the bank account, because these WGCs have been virtual annuities for Woods. In fact, if you toss in the Arnold Palmer Invitational and Farmers Insurance Open — he was on the sidelines for the former, and basically was a no-show for the latter — Woods in 2014-15 is likely to go without playing in five tournaments that have earned him $39,544,550 in prize money.
