Tiger still the target for Scottish Open

Tiger Woods has turned down the opportunity to appear at the Scottish Open, but could make his bow in the tournament as early as next year, organisers have claimed.

Tournament director Peter Adams revealed that a host of last year's Ryder Cup stars from Gleneagles - eight victorious Europeans and four defeated Americans - will take part in this year's Scottish Open, which gets underway at Gullane Golf Club next month.

But he admitted that Tiger, who is looking to squeeze more golf into his schedule after a dramatic collapse in form, would not be among the field for the Open Championship warm-up.
