The Shark Shootout will be receiving some girl power this year.
Tournament officials announced Monday that Lexi Thompson will be among the 24-person field at Tiburon Golf Club, which will be hosting the unofficial PGA Tour event for the 16th consecutive year.
Thompson will become the first female participant since Annika Sorenstam in 2006, and tournament host Greg Norman announced that Thompson will pair with Bryson DeChambeau for the 54-hole team event.
Thompson is ranked No. 4 in the latest Rolex Rankings and has won seven times on the LPGA, most recently the Honda LPGA Thailand in February.
