The Merit Club sets up well for low scores at UL International Crown

Gurnee, Illinois – The toughest thing for Karrie Webb this week might be course routing. When she won the 2000 U.S. Women’s Open at the Merit Club, the nines were flipped from the original routing. At the UL International Crown, the first eight holes will be as the members play it. But tournament officials changed things up after that to bring the par-5 16th back to the clubhouse. The idea, of course, is that matches ending on Nos. 16-18 will be easy for spectators to pick up.

Then there’s the fact that this isn’t a USGA setup.

“Obviously this course is not set up U.
