Several aspects of this ACC Championship will go down in the books, but in Virginia’s books, it should get prime real estate. The Cavaliers won their first conference crown in the 12-year history of the program, and under notable circumstances.
The championship was split into two 27-hole days, a decision tournament officials made after looking at a weather forecast that showed rain headed for the Greensboro, N.C., area on Sunday. Virginia head coach Kim Lewellen said her players didn’t even notice the longer-than-normal days at Sedgefield Country Club.
