As she approaches the start of a college career at the University of Georgia, Bailey Tardy added to her amateur-golf resume July 17 with a victory at the North & South Women’s Amateur. Tardy had to defeat another incoming freshman, Bethany Wu (who is headed to UCLA) to win the famous Pinehurst putter boy trophy at the famed Pinehurst No. 2 layout.
Tardy, No. 15 in Golfweek’s Junior rankings, took down a series of top amateurs before reaching Wu, Golfweek’s top-ranked junior. Tardy defeated Alexandra Rossi, Lori Beth Adams (who lost to Alison Lee in the final match at last year’s event) and Anna Redding.
