LYTHAM ST. ANNES, England - If the 45th Walker Cup had been played on paper, then the United States would be going home with George Herbert Walker’s trophy.
Thankfully, the greatest team event in amateur golf isn’t played on paper. This time it was played on the tough test of Royal Lytham. That only meant one thing: a GB&I victory.
Once again, home course advantage played a key role in the Walker Cup. The home team has won 10 of the past 12 matches. GB&I has now won five of the last six played on its home soil.
