Suzy Whaley plays as marker at KPMG Women's PGA Championship

RYE, N.Y. – It took Suzy Whaley half a second to respond to Kerry Haigh’s text. The PGA of America’s chief championship’s officer wanted to know if Whaley would serve as a marker on the weekend at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.

“ABSOLUTELY,” Whaley replied, using caps for emphasis.

Sunday brought an added bonus: Whaley’s 20-year-old daughter, Jenn, served as caddie.

“There are things you do within your world that you’re passion about,” said Whaley. “I love to teach and I love to coach, but playing inside the ropes, I just don’t know that there’s any greater feeling.
