INCHEON, South Korea – A year ago, Sung Hyun Park watched the KEB Hana Bank Championship as a spectator. This year, she’s making her LPGA debut here. The South Korean, who is a regular on the Korea LPGA, fired a course-record 10-under 62 to grab a four-stroke lead over Charley Hull and Gerina Piller in the opening round.
The 22-year-old Park birdied three of the last four holes after making six birdies in a seven-hole stretch Thursday in the middle of the round on Sky 72's Ocean Course.
Not only did Park go low, but she impressed her better-known competitors in her group: Lexi Thompson (68) and Michelle Wie (71).
