DUBLIN, Ohio – On a day when an alternate took the lead at the Memorial it should have been no surprise that a little-known Englishman playing on a special international exemption would post the round of the day.
Andy Sullivan had eight birdies and no bogeys on Friday at Muirfield Village for a 64 to move to 10 under par and two strokes out of the lead held by David Lingmerth, a last minute addition into the field.
“It's a shot maker's course. And I like to maneuver the ball around quite a lot. So for me, it suits my eye,” said Sullivan, who finished tied for sixth last week at the Irish Open.
