Still winless since Masters, Danny Willett tries to manage expectations at British Open

TROON, Scotland – Managing expectations could be Danny Willett’s biggest challenge in the 145th British Open. It’s been a huge challenge since he won the Masters.

The Englishman has had a couple of chances to win after becoming the first Englishman to don a green jacket since Sir Nick Faldo. He hasn’t been able to get back into the winner’s circle, though.

He got into contention early in the Irish Open, but faded over the last two rounds to finish T-23. He did the same a week later at the BMW PGA Championship, but returned a third-round 76 and eventually finished third behind Chris Wood.
