ATLANTA – Of all the mathematical madness that has become professional golf’s post-season, it is the looming possibility that a player could win the season-long race without having won an event that likely sends chills down the spine of PGA Tour officials.
That possibility has surfaced again this week with Henrik Stenson, who begins the Tour Championship fourth on the point list without having found the winner’s circle in the 2014-15 season.
“That’s just the way it is,” said Stenson, who can tie for third and still have a mathematical chance of winning the FedEx Cup.
