Stegmaier seizes Shriners Open lead as play suspended

Just last month Brett Stegmaier was atop a Web.com Tour leaderboard during the second round, and now he's done just that on the big circuit.

Following an opening 66, Stegmaier notched four birdies and an eagle in his first 15 holes of the second round to reach 11 under. The 32-year-old knocked his approach on No. 16 to 14 feet when play was suspended due to darkness. Stegmaier will finish up his second round on Saturday morning.

So it may not be a 36-hole lead quite yet, but Stegmaier will sleep in first place Friday night with three players in the clubhouse one behind at 10 under.
