Brittany Lincicome and Angela Stanford are leading the American effort to win the year’s final major championship.
Stanford posted a 3-under-par 68 Friday. At 9 under overall, she’s four shots behind the leader, In Gee Chun.
Lincicome fought her way to a 66 Friday with nine birdies and four bogeys. She’s five shots back.
Stanford, 38, is seeking her sixth LPGA title and her first major. She has given herself weekend chances to win majors before, including a playoff loss to Hilary Lunke at the U.S. Women’s Open at Pumpkin Ridge in 2003.
