Spieth’s success built on familiarity with clubs

Masters champion Jordan Spieth is a clubmaker’s dream. He is easy to fit, and he is not a club tinkerer. He seldom alters his 14-club configuration.

Spieth has been a Titleist staff member since he turned pro in 2012. When Titleist introduced its AP2 714 irons in 2013, Spieth made the switch immediately from AP2 712 to AP2 714. The first time he saw the new irons, he put them in his bag.

The AP2 714 set (4 through 9) is still there. As Spieth once explained, “They make the clubs; I just play them.”

No over-analysis there.
