NORTON, Mass. – Saturday at the Deutsche Bank Championship was a fitting microcosm of Jordan Spieth’s last few weeks.
On Day 2 at TPC Boston, Spieth’s ball-striking was good enough to produce a special round. He was 21st in strokes gained off the tee, fourth in strokes gained tee to green and he gave himself plenty of birdie opportunities.
As has been the case the last few tournaments, however, his normally automatic putting stroke was just a beat off.
Spieth needed 29 putts on his way to his second-consecutive 68 that left him tied for eighth when he completed his round, just four strokes off the lead.
