AUGUSTA, Ga. – On his way to an impressive 66 in windy conditions on Thursday at the Masters Jordan Spieth’s group was put on the clock for being out of position late in the round.
Spieth’s group, which included Paul Casey and amateur Bryson DeChambeau, was put on the clock on the 17th hole, but the defending champion didn’t seem to be bothered by the added distraction with a par at the 17th and a birdie at the closing hole to take the early lead.
“It seemed a bit, in my opinion, unnecessary, with a hole and a half to go,” Spieth said.
