The jostling atop the Official World Golf Rankings continued Sunday when American Jordan Spieth took over the No. 1 spot from Australia's Jason Day, according to the ranking system's projections.
Spieth was projected to leapfrog Day -- who sat out this week's World Golf Championship event while awaiting the birth of his second child -- when the two-time major champion finished tied for seventh at the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai.
The 22-year-old Texan needed to finish no worse than in a two-way tie for 13th place. He will hold the top spot in the rankings for a seventh week in 2015 when the rankings are officially released on Monday.
