Spieth sluggish in post-Masters start, cards 74

In his first competitive round since a record-setting performance at Augusta National, Spieth opened the RBC Heritage with a 3-over 74. The score left him eight shots behind co-leaders Matt Every and Graeme McDowell and in danger of just his second missed cut of the season.

After a record 28 birdies last week, Spieth made his lone birdie of the day on the par-5 15th hole. That tally came after a watery double bogey on the par-3 14th, and Spieth found only eight of 18 greens in regulation amid the cozy confines of Harbour Town Golf Links.
