Spieth skipping Torrey Pines for Singapore Open

FedEx Cup champ Jordan Spieth will play in the SMBC Singapore Open next year, opting to play abroad instead of teeing it up at the Farmers Insurance Open.

The event in Singapore will be held Jan. 28-31, the same week as the Tour's annual stop at Torrey Pines. Spieth has played in San Diego each of the last three years, including 2014 when he held the 36-hole lead before fading to a T-17 finish. But he missed the cut in each of his other two appearances, including this year during his five-win season, and will instead head to Sentosa Golf Club in January.
