PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – It isn’t often that World No. 1 Jordan Spieth can reach into his past and toss out a fresh anecdote that no one has heard before. But he did just that during his pre-tournament interview ahead of his appearance this week at the Northern Trust Open.
When asked about the 2006 Rose Bowl showdown between No. 1 USC and No. 2 Texas, Spieth reminded a packed media center that he was just 12 years old watching that instant classic back home in Dallas, and then surprised them with the news that, at the time, USC shared equal billing with Texas for his affections.
