Spieth reaches 'life-long goal' of being world No. 1

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – Jordan Spieth handled defeat admirably Sunday at the PGA Championship.

“This is, by far, the best loss I’ve ever had,” Spieth said after finishing runner-up to Jason Day.

There is solace in being crowned world No. 1 for the first time in your career.

With his solo second-place showing, and Rory McIlroy finishing in 17th position, Spieth was able to claim the top spot in the Official World Golf Ranking.

“I accomplished one of my life-long goals and in the sport of golf,” Spieth said.
