NORTON, Mass. – Jordan Spieth clumsily swatted his greenside bunker shot over the flagstick at the 13th hole early in his round Friday at the Deutsche Bank Championship and thumped his sand wedge against his golf bag.
At the very next hole, he putted off the green, then further aggravated himself with a sloppy chip. He swiped the air with his wedge.
It was one of those days for the 22-year-old wunderkind.
Five holes into his marquee pairing with Jason Day, Spieth found himself six shots behind Day.
Spieth ended up making eight bogeys and four birdies in a round of 4-over-par 75.
