French women have won titles and contended in the world’s top amateur golf championships this summer. So it’s not likely that they will arrive star-struck, seeking only autographs and a few pleasant rounds at the mountain-framed Evian Championship in Evian-les-Bains, France, starting Thursday.
“While they are still very young, they are fearless,” said Patricia Meunier Lebouc, a former L.P.G.A. player who is now a national team coach for the French Golf Federation. “They are not scared to be playing in the Evian Championship. They are able to compete at that level.”
Lebouc has helped guide the training and build the confidence of her young players.
