Matthew NeSmith's birdie on 18 clinched a 1-under 69 in his final round, and gave the South Carolina senior a one-stroke victory at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Invite on Tuesday.
NeSmith was 2 over through 13, but recovered and birdied three of his final five holes to get to 7 under overall and hold off a charge by Augusta's Maverick Antcliff, who posted a 3 under 67 in his final round.
NeSmith's teammate, Will Miles, came into the final round tied for the lead, but couldn't put together the same final round magic as his teammate. Miles bogeyed five holes on his front nine to make the turn at 5 over, and then doubled the par-5 10th.
